<br />JS/JWF (2/15/07) <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NS-2737 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA AMENDING SECTIONS 2-325, 2-450 AND <br />2-451 OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE <br />MODIFYING THE APPOINTMENT PROCESS AND <br />QUALIFICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP ON THE YOUTH <br />COMMISSION. <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The City Council believes it is important that the Youth Commission members <br />represent a broad cross-section of the youth population of the City. The <br />Council also desires to increase the experience level of the members and to <br />foster greater continuity of membership on the Commission. <br /> <br />B. In order to accomplish the above stated goals, the Council desires to amend <br />section 2-451 of the Municipal Code to set different age limit of alternate <br />members of the Commission to permits students up to 20 years of age to <br />serve, to provide for City Council appointment of associate members, and to <br />provide compensation for associate members. <br /> <br />C. All provisions of the Santa Ana Municipal Code which are repeated herein are <br />repeated solely in order to comply with the provisions of Section 418 of the <br />Charter of the City of Santa Ana. Any such restatement of existing provisions <br />of the Code is not intended, nor shall it be interpreted, as constituting a new <br />action or decision of the City Council, but rather such provisions are repeated <br />for tracking purposes only in conformance with the Charter. <br /> <br />Section 2. Section 2-450 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended <br />to read as follows (new language underlined, deleted language in strikeout for tracking <br />purposes only): <br /> <br />Sec. 2-450. Commission established; composition. <br /> <br />There is hereby created and established a youth commission for the City of <br />Santa Ana, having such powers as set forth in this division. The youth <br />commission shall consist of seven (7) regular members, seven (7) alternate <br />members, and seven (7) associate members, who shall be subject to <br /> <br />Ordinance No. NS-2737 <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
