N
N
JGP ?ioN FAR • Obtain Existing Traffic Data- In order to document and evaluate the current traffic
operations on MacArthur /SR -55 Undercrossing, we propose to obtain traffic counts,
1 along with vehicle classification data, utilizing tube counters. Traffic utilizing MacAr-
thur in each direction of travel would be counted on a 24 -hour basis for one week.
' . • In addition to obtaining the traffic count data indicated above, we would request
ATMS traffic data for the mainline SR -55 in the project area from Caltrans District 12.
Furthermore, Urban Crossroads will work with Caltrans District 12 and the City of
Santa Ana to obtain relevant traffic accident data in the project area.
Task 3: Initial Engineering Studies
• Develop alternatives (Plan, profiles, super elevations - TYP plans)
• Preliminary grading and drainage impact study (hydraulics /hydrology studies)
• Mandatory and advisory fact sheet
• Traffic analysis and construction staging and TMP
• Utility plans
• Preliminary geotechnical report
• Preliminary cost estimate
• Stormwarer data report
• Submit plans to agencies for informal review
Develop Alternatives (Plan, Profile, Typical Sections)
Plan. PBS &J will investigate the concepts that will be compatible with the "Mini-
mum Project Alternative" and "Stage Able Alternative" per Caltrans Project Develop-
ment Guidelines, Caltrans Highway Design Manual, and City of Santa Ana Standard
Plan. These initial layouts will be evaluated to determine which concepts accomplish
the goals defined by PDT in the scoping meeting. Two alternatives will be selected
and presented to the PDT. The alternatives will be prepared with 50:1 scale to provide
better accuracy.
Profiles. Horizontal and vertical profiles of the MacArthur Blvd. and all other inter-
secting streets and access roads will be carefully analyzed to evaluate impact of the
outside widening.
Typical Cross Sections. Typical cross sections will be developed based on the recom-
mendation of the traffic analysis for number of traffic lanes required.
Grading. Cut /fill slopes will be generated for establishing right of way requirements.
Grading Plans will be prepared utilizing the Microstation and Inroads to identify the
new toe of slopes.
All design plans will be in English unit per Caltrans guidelines.
Construction Staging Plan. Traffic handling concepts will be developed for each
alternative to determine impact to local traffic circulation and cons tructabili ty.
Construction Estimate. It will be prepared for each selected alternative per Caltrans
guidelines for PSR/PR.
Advance Planning Study. Assumed, at this time, not to be required.
Retaining Walls. Assumed, at this time, not to be required.
e. c:x• ;, -, . .- r PBS &J... We Make it Happen! PM]
