<br />ranges) . <br /> <br />Employees receiving "Street Level Proficiency" incentive <br />pay may be required, as a condition of continued <br />eligibility to receive such incentive pay, to <br />successfully complete an eight (8) hour refresher course <br />once every twelve months from the date of initial <br />certification. <br /> <br />D. Complex Level Proficiency In Spanish. All employees in <br />the classifications of Police Officer and Police Sergeant <br />who successfully meet the "Complex Level Proficiency" <br />requirements set out in the departmental Spanish training <br />program shall be paid a bilingual pay differential in an <br />amount equal to the product obtained by multiplying the <br />Step "E" base salary rate of Police Officer by ten (10) <br />salary rate ranges (5.0%). <br /> <br />E. All non-sworn employees in classifications represented by <br />this Agreement shall be paid a bilingual pay differential <br />of one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) per month after <br />successfully meeting the requirements for "complex level <br />prof iciency. " <br /> <br />5.4 All assignments to positions set forth in Sections 1, 2, 3 <br />above of sworn and non-sworn personnel shall be made or <br />revoked in a fair manner at the discretion of the Police <br />Chief. <br /> <br />5.5 Temporary Upqrade Assignment Pay. Effective the first day of <br />the first full month following Council approval of this <br />Agreement, Temporary Upgrade Assignments will be provided in <br />order to create an equitable method of compensating employees <br />who are assigned temporarily to a vacant, full-time, budgeted, <br />higher-level position. <br /> <br />A. Eligiblity. <br /> <br />1. Full-time employees shall receive Temporary Upgrade <br />Assignment Pay if the following criteria are met: <br /> <br />a. The work assumed encompasses the majority of <br />the typical duties and responsibilities of the <br />vacated position. <br /> <br />b. The employee must serve two (2) consecutive <br />calendar weeks in an acting capacity to <br /> <br />16 <br />
