<br />qualify for assignment pay. A permitted <br />absence of two (2) days or less during such <br />two (2) consecutive calendar week period shall <br />not be deemed to void such consecutive <br />service; however, the days of absence shall <br />not be counted in the computation of such two <br />(2) week requirement. <br /> <br />c. In computing qualifying service or temporary <br />upgrade assignment pay, only full days of <br />actual duty shall be included, and partial <br />days shall not be combined to make full days <br />unless they are normally granted holiday <br />hours. Normally granted holidays will be <br />included in computing actual duty days. <br /> <br />2. Whenever practicable, the Police Chief shall rotate <br />Temporary Upgrade Assignments among all qualified <br />employees. <br /> <br />3. Employees in the following categories shall not be <br />assigned to Temporary Upgrade work unless <br />specifically authorized by the City Manager: <br /> <br />a. Non-permanent employees (Probationary, Part- <br />time, Seasonal, etc.). <br /> <br />b. Employees performing work above their regular <br />class in a training capacity. <br /> <br />B. Payment. <br /> <br />1. The employee serving in a Temporary Upgrade <br />Assignment shall receive the beginning rate (Step <br />"AA" or "A") assigned to the higher classification <br />or the lowest rate in that range which is at least <br />ten (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5%) <br />higher than the current base salary rate he or she <br />normally receives, whichever is greater, for all <br />time that he or she serves. <br /> <br />If an employee has worked two (2) consecutive <br />calendar weeks during the term of this Agreement in <br />a higher classification, the employee shall <br />thereafter receive upgrade pay for each full day <br />the employee is assigned to work in the higher <br />classification during the term of this Agreement. <br />Employees must requalify for an upgrade (Temporary <br /> <br />17 <br />
