<br /> <br />· Vietnamese Community of Orange County (VCOC). Mai Dong's <br />organization is based in Santa Ana and is one of the largest <br />community based organizations serving the Vietnamese <br />community in Orange County. Verches Associates has worked <br />with VCOC in the past as an outreach channel into the <br />Vietnamese community and as an advocate on other issues. The <br />Vietnamese community continues to grow in size and stature in <br />Santa Ana and the VCOC has strong influence in its community. <br />· The Cambodian Family Center (CFC) <br />The CFC serves the Cambodian community in Santa Ana similar <br />to the VCOC and Vietnamese community. It also serves the <br />neighboring Latino immigrant community. Because the <br />Cambodian community does not have a local media outlet, CFC <br />is an important link in reaching out to this community. Verches <br />Associates currently serves as a consultant (pro bono) to Rifka <br />Hirsch and the CFC. <br />· Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) <br />Santa Ana College, one of two RSCCD campuses, is fully <br />integrated into the . Santa Ana community and serves as <br />necessary community resource. Many of the SAC students and <br />staff live' and work.,.jn Santa Ana,- .and use Santa Ana's <br />community facilities. '. Verches Associates isa consultant to <br />RSCCD and works extensively with the Dr. Hernandez and the <br />Chancellor's office on government relations, public affairs, and <br />community relations matters. Verches Associates also serves on <br />a number of community organizations that include many of the <br />RSCCD board members. This is a "must" resource for outreach <br />and advocacy on Santa Ana related projects. <br />· Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD). <br />As the fifth largest school district in the state with over 55,000 <br />students, SAUSD is fully integrated into the lives of the families <br />living in Santa Ana. SAUSD serves as an important link for any <br />neighborhood project or activity. As an example, the <br />immigrant Cambodian community has no local media outlet but <br />most families have a number of children. Using the district to <br />distribute information would be a distinct advantage in <br />outreaching into this community. Verches Associates has <br />worked with the Superintendent's office in the past and <br />currently serves on two other Santa Ana based community <br />organizations with SAUSD board members. <br />
