2.4 Community Workshops
We understand that the City has already conducted significant outreach
as part of the Consolidated Plan process. Rather than unnecessarily
repeat prior efforts, we propose a more targeted approach. We propose
two Housing Element workshops for the general public to solicit from
participants the important housing needs facing the community, and well
as potential programs that may be undertaken to address unmet needs.
We have retained a specialized public relations firm skilled in providing
translation, outreach, and engagement services. Arellano Associates has
provided public outreach efforts for nearly I Syears. They will meet with
the Housing Element team to scope out the workshops, visit the sites,
and simultaneously provide Spanish and Vietnamese translation services
at each workshop with the use of headsets (provided by City staff), and
provide a summary of notes upon completion.
We assume that the City will handle all arrangements, advertising,
noticing, and any auxiliary details necessary to facilitate the workshop.
The Planning Center will be responsible for preparation of materials,
trilingual notices, and presentation materials, boards, and graphics. In
preparing for the workshops, we will work closely withyou to ensure the
presentation materials are suitable for the audience.
Deliverables
• Preparation, attendance, and lead for two Workshops
• PowerPoint presentation or other materials for each meeting
• Summary of notes and comments received at the workshop
2.5 Stakeholder Meetings
We understand that the city has a variety of stakeholders that participate
in providing services or representing residents served by the City's
housing and community development activities. This meeting is intended
to provide input for the City's housing plan. Unlike other meetings, we
anticipate serving in a more passive role in this meeting, listening to their
concerns regarding gaps in the current service delivery system and
clarifying potential modifications of housing programs or new initiatives.
The key to this meeting will be to provide a clear agenda, with a defined
meeting outcome and any supporting material prior to the meeting so
that participants can understand the objectives for the meeting. Selection
of participants is critical. The meeting need not include all participants in
the Consolidated Plan process, but rather should focus on gathering
Page 2- i 6 Proposal to City of Santa Ana
