<br />select or exercise authority over the testing laboratory. <br /> <br />· Accepting testers from the selected firm shall carry adequate identification with <br />them so that the Independent Assurance testing personnel can verify the <br />acceptance testers' certificates. <br /> <br />· The selected firm must maintain the laboratory testing equipment in <br />accordance with recognized national standards. <br /> <br />· The selected firm must have an independent assurance testing and sampling <br />program. This program can be performed either by their own personnel not <br />involved in the acceptance testing and sampling, or by another quality <br />assurance organization. <br /> <br />Acceptance Testino and Samplinq <br /> <br />· The selected testing laboratory shall conduct acceptance sampling and testing <br />of materials and work on the first day such work is performed; and continues <br />daily until the work is completed. <br /> <br />Reportina Test Results <br /> <br />. When aggregate is sampled in the material source, the laboratory firm shall <br />submit to the Resident Engineer results of sand equivalent, cleanness value <br />and sieve analysis within 24 hours. When soils and aggregate are sampled at <br />the job site, results of these tests should be submitted within 72 hours. <br /> <br />.-,ResultsoLcompaction,and density tests ,_taken "at, the job _site,should be <br />submitted within 24 hours. <br /> <br />· When soils and asphalt concrete are sampled at the job site, R-value and <br />asphalt extraction should be submitted within 96 hours. <br /> <br />Independent Assurance Samplino and Testinq <br /> <br />The selected firm shall provide an Independent Sampling and Testing (ISAT) <br />program: <br /> <br />. To verify that the project's sampling and testing of materials is performed <br />correctly by the testers and samplers. <br /> <br />. To ensure the equipment is properly calibrated. <br /> <br />. To provide the City with a copy of the program so that the Resident Engineer <br />may verify that the program is carried out. <br /> <br />· To provide the Resident Engineer with an immediate report, including action to <br />- 5 - <br />
