Alex Kaplan <br />National Practice Director, Public Services <br />Lawson Software, Inc. <br />Summary of Qualifications <br />As a the National Practice Director for Government and Education, Mr. Kaplan is responsible for <br />leading a team that is responsible for all activities related to the delivery of services that support <br />Lawson Government and Education implementations in the United States. Alex has served as <br />the senior executive for consulting, systems integration and complex technology projects at a <br />range of clients including; North Central Texas Council of Governments, New Mexico State <br />Department of Education, New Mexico House of Representatives, Anchorage School District <br />(AK), Jefferson County Public Schools (CO), Washoe County School District (NV), North East <br />Independent School District (TX), Seattle Public Schools (WA) and others. These projects <br />included technology planning, technology product evaluation and selection, contract negotiations; <br />implementations of enterprise application systems, local area networks, wide area networks, PCs <br />and servers; and staff development. Mr. Kaplan is also a nationally recognized expert in the field <br />of technology and public education. <br />Professional Experience <br />Mr. Kaplan has assisted many public sector clients in developing best practices for the integration <br />of technology to improve administrative efficiencies. These projects have included analysis of <br />technology funding, development of evaluative criteria to measure the impact of technology, and <br />identification and analysis of public sector organizations that are exemplary in terms of <br />technology use. These studies have been used by governing committees and executive <br />leadership to make decisions regarding the direction of their organizations technology programs, <br />and the level of funding commitment given to them. <br />Mr. Kaplan has served as a consultant to State Departments of Education in New Mexico and <br />Kentucky on educational policy issues. These projects include: developing a statewide vision for <br />the implementation of technology (KY), statewide student information systems planning (NM), <br />evaluating and assessing specially funded education projects (NM), assessing the impact of <br />deconsolidation Albuquerque Public Schools (NM). <br />Mr. Kaplan has consulted with various other organizations on technology related issues. These <br />organizations include; The Walt Disney Company, US West, National Computer Systems (now <br />NCSPearson), and others. <br />Corporate Experience <br />Prior to joining Lawson Software, Alex Kaplan was CEO of Davidson Services, LLC. Davidson <br />Services provides professional services to K -12 school districts throughout the United States. <br />The company is owned by the Davidson Group. In this capacity he developed the business <br />concept, conducted the market research, raised the capital, recruited the core team, directed the <br />sales and marketing activities, and directed the development of the intellectual capital required for <br />the business. In two years the business has grown to nine employees, revenues in excess of $1 <br />million, is cash flow positive, has a deep reservoir of intellectual capital assets, and major <br />customers throughout the United States. <br />Mr. Kaplan was CEO of Futurekids, Inc., an educational technology company that delivers <br />technology professional development and technology curriculum to teachers and students around <br />the globe. The company is owned by the Davidson Group. Futurekids, Inc. has presence in 65 <br />countries and has educated over 2 million children to be "Futurekids" since its founding in 1983. <br />Futurekids is a franchise system outside the United States, and has limited direct operations <br />within the United States. <br />Lawson Software - Confidential 30 <br />
