Environmental Checklist <br />For CEQA Compliance <br />to local and state fire codes. Any new development would likely replace existing structural <br />development, and would not significantly increase the net demand for fire protection. <br />Additionally, with new development and tenant improvements, fire systems are often <br />upgraded, which could potentially reduce fire protection demand. Adequate fire protection <br />services are currently available, and the proposed project would not substantially increase <br />demand for fire protection services. Therefore, impacts would be less than significant. <br />Police Protection <br />Less-Than-Significant Impact. The Santa Ana Police Department provides police <br />protection services for the proposed project area. The proposed SEZ would not result in any <br />specific construction project, land acquisition project, or other development project. <br />Therefore, police protection services within or throughout the proposed SEZ would not be <br />directly affected. The proposed project may indirectly increase development and businesses <br />opportunities in the area, thereby contributing to an increased demand for police protection. <br />Any new development would likely replace existing structural development, and would not <br />significantly increase the net demand for police protection. Additionally, new development <br />and more successful businesses could lead to reduced criminal activity. Adequate police <br />protection services are currently available, and the proposed project would not substantially <br />increase demand for police protection services. Therefore, impacts would be less than <br />significant. <br />Schools <br />Less-Than-Significant Impact. School services in the city are provided by the Santa Ana <br />Unified School District. The demand for new schools is generally associated with population <br />increases or impacts on existing schools. The proposed SEZ would not result in any specific <br />construction project, land acquisition project, or other development project. Additionally, the <br />proposed project would not significantly increase the population, thereby placing a significant <br />added burden on the Santa Ana schools. Therefore, impacts would be less than significant. <br />Parks <br />Less-Than-Significant Impact. The demand for parks is generally associated with the <br />increase of housing or population in an area. The proposed SEZ would not result in any <br />specific construction project, land acquisition project, or other development project. <br />Therefore, park services within or throughout the proposed SEZ would not be directly <br />affected. Additionally, the proposed project would not significantly increase the population, <br />thereby placing a significant added burden on the Santa Ana parks. Therefore, impacts <br />would be less than significant. <br />Other Public Facilities <br />No Impact. The project would not require any other new or altered service facilities. No <br />impact would occur. <br />XIV. Recreation <br />A. Less-Than-Significant Impact. An increase in the use of parks is generally associated with <br />the increase of housing or population in an area.
