CITY OF SANTA ANA
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES I TRAFFIC
TASK ASSIGNMENTS
One of the key advantages that Kimley-Hom offers is our ability to assign the right staff to each task.
As described elsewhere in our proposal, we offer the City a local team of several potential task
leaders who possess the specific types of expertise that may be needed, depending on the nature of
the environmental issues. If additional disciplines are required, or if an urgent task requires
additional staffing, we can draw from the 100 people in our Southern California offices, or from the
2,330 professionals throughout the firm.
As stated previously, shifting staff resources to meet the needs of out clients is a normal, ongoing
process for Kimley-Horn. So, while we fully expect that the staff resources in our Orange office will
be sufficient to meet the City's needs, we have the ability (and a proven staff shifting process) to
provide additional resources on short notice and for accelerated schedules.
PROJECT AND TASK MANAGEMENT
A second advantage of Kimley-Horn is our focus on project management. Kitnley-Horn is organized
to maximize the project manager's capabilities. The entire process of completing a job successfully,
including proposing, producing, and accounting are in the project manager's control at all times. The
project manager serves as the main point of contact for all our client's concerns and is fully
empowered to make decisions.
Serine Ciandella will serve as our Project Manager for this assignment. She will select each Task
Manager, based on the nature of the assignment, the technical requirements, and the City's schedule.
Task Managers will be responsible for developing the scope and budget for their task, and managing
the technical work and task performance. As Project Manager, Serine will facilitate the availability of
needed staff, and monitor task budget and schedule performance.
Kimley-Hom knows how much effective management means to our clients. Our Task Managers will
apply the following proven fundamentals:
Develop a clear understanding of what the task is to accomplish (what products and services we
will deliver) in consultation with City staff
Develop a Work Plan (scope of services, budget, and schedule) to accomplish the task goals
Set weekly milestones (more manageable) that support the larger milestones
Review milestones with the project team on a weekly basis
Maintain regular coordination with City staff to discuss any technical issues and provide updates
on milestone progress
?• Coordinate with other consultants (as appropriate)
Create an atmosphere that fosters and encourages clear communications and teamwork to
accomplish the task goals
Copyright Q 2006, Kimley-Horn and Assodates, Inc.
