CA 90002 <br />DANGER <br />ASBESTOS CONTAMINATION <br />Respirators and Protective Clothing <br />Must Be Worn by All Personnel Entering This Area <br />A Access to Work Area <br />Worker entry and exit into each contaminated area shall be controlled by use of <br />an entrylexit log, Inspectors and supervisors shall also sign the log as evidence <br />of entry into the area. <br />B. Abatement Guidelines <br />Abatement is to commence only after the site supervisor has determined that <br />the restricted area is established and clearly marked. The following removal <br />steps/phases have been presented as a log+cal sequence of events; the work <br />shoufd follow this sequence: <br />C Removal Steps - Asbestos <br />1. Adequate wetting. Using an airless sprayer capable of delivering a fine low <br />pressure mist, wet the ACM with amended water, fashion glove bag <br />containment <br />2 Removal of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM). <br />Remove ACM in manageable section while the material is still wet. <br />Use HEPA filtered vacuums to collect all ACM debris and dust/dirt <br />containing ACM. <br />Promptly clean up and dispose of ACM waste in leak -proof containers. <br />Prohibited Activities During ACM Removal <br />• Use of high speed abrasive disc saws, sanders, drills, or other power <br />tools that are not equipped with paint -of -cut dust collection systems that <br />are attached to HEPA filtered vacuums. <br />• Use of compressed air to remove asbestos. <br />• Removal of ACM while it is dry or when it has not been adequately <br />wetted. <br />• Dry sweeping, shoveling, or other dry clean-up of ACM, or dust/dirt <br />containing ACM - <br />Removal of Tools and Equipment <br />a. -thoroughly HE PA vacuum and wet wipe tools and otherequipment <br />before removing from work area. <br />b. Any power tools that cannot be completely de -contaminated niust be <br />placed in pre -labeled plastic bags and sealed with duct tape before <br />removing from work area. <br />c Hand tools such as scrapers, broad knives, etc., can be cleaned by wet <br />wiping and are to be bagged prior to removal from the work area. <br />Page 6 of 8 <br />
