CSP Victim Assistance Programs requires the following additional training: <br />Sexual Assault Counselor Training - Certified by the State of California (48 hours) <br />Domestic Violence Counselor Training - Certified by the State of California (40 <br />hours) <br />At least 24 hours of yearly in- service training <br />A portion of these funds would also be used to create and publish enhanced Victim <br />Resource Guides/ Brochures that will contain valuable information related to victim <br />services, support and resources. <br />Goals: <br />The specific goals of a dedicated Family Violence Victim Advocate include: <br />■ Enhance our ability to connect victims of family violence, sexual assault and other <br />violent crimes with timely counseling, resources and referrals. <br />■ Streamline the process to refer victims to advocates. <br />• Lead and direct the efforts of our dedicated advocate, based on the immediate needs <br />of our community or individuals. <br />■ Personalize and tailor victim services based on individual needs. <br />Activities: (which can be started and completed expeditiously, and in a manner that <br />maximizes job creation and economic benefits) <br />■ Crisis Intervention - counseling, reassurance and support immediately following a <br />crime and in the following days. <br />■ Victim Advocate ride -a -longs with Patrol Officers - designed to provide immediate, <br />on -scene crisis intervention services for victims who have just reported domestic <br />violence, sexual assault and other violent crime. <br />■ Emergency Assistance - meeting the immediate needs of victims, for example food, <br />clothing, shelter and /or medical attention. <br />■ Orientations to the system -explaining the criminal justice system, including <br />information about individual cases. <br />■ Accompanying victims to court - to provide support and information during court <br />hearings and trials. <br />■ Property return - assisting in the prompt return of property booked as evidence. <br />2009- F1801 -CA -SB Page 29 of 61 <br />
