The City's cable infrastructure is approximately 90%Avaya Systimax and is covered by the <br />Avaya Systimax 20-year guarantee. <br />The City has adopted the ANSI/EIA/TIA, and NEC standards, as well as BICSI design and <br />installation methods for all materials, installation, testing, configuration and documentation of <br />the City Telecommunications Infrastructure. These guidelines are based upon widely used <br />industry standards such as, but not limited to, EIA/TIA 568, 569, 570, 606A, 607, including all <br />TSB's, and the NEC codes related to Telecommunications Infrastructures. This would include <br />any new or updated standards adopted by the ANSI/EIA/TIA, and new or updated NEC code, <br />as well as any updated or new BICSI design and installation practices. <br />1.3 OBJECTIVE <br />The City of Santa Ana is seeking a qualified vendor to provide the City with cabling services in <br />support of internal telephone and data services. Maintaining the existing standard for cabling <br />and preserving the City's investment in cabling infrastructure is essential. <br />1.4 SERVICES BEING SOUGHT <br />1.4.1 A summary of the expected services required is as follows: <br />• Services to be provided by a Avaya Value Added Reseller (VAR) <br />• Providing all required hardware and build out of telecommunications spaces and <br />outlet termination facilities. <br />• Provision and placement, termination, labeling and testing of all low voltage <br />cable media. <br />• Providing optical fiber cabling and associated components. <br />• Providing telecommunications connectivity for all miscellaneous services <br />(elevator telephones, coaxial cabling, TDD equipment, etc.). <br />• Providing blue line and electronic media as-built documentation of cable plant <br />facilities. <br />• Providing backbone connectivity. Work may include pathway surveys, cable tray <br />installations, coring, backboards, and conduits. <br />• Providing printed cable plant media test result documentation. <br />• Provision and installation of all fire-stopping material as required to maintain fire <br />rating of penetrated construction material or conduit pathways. <br />• Cleaning, patching, repairing, and touch-up painting as required. <br />• BICSI CERTIFIED APPRENTICES, INSTALLERS, AND TECHNICIANS ARE <br />PREFERRED. Proposers are encouraged in their proposals to describe the <br />availability of such work staff to perform services for the City. <br />2. QUALIFICATIONS <br />2.1 MINIMUM VENDOR QUALIFICATIONS <br />2.1.1 To qualify to be the selected Vendor and to be retained as the Vendor for cabling <br />services to the City: <br />2.1.1.1 The Vendor must be and retain active status as an Avaya Value Added <br />Reseller (VAR). <br />Page 5 of 34 <br />
