Approach: The needs of the various station facility components will be assessed includeing Metrolink, Amtrak, fixed-guideway, OCTA buses, OCTA Stationlink, OCTA BRT, High Speed Rail, Greyhound Bus, International Tour Bus, LA World Airports FlyAway Bus, shared car, bike station, fixed-guideway maintenance facility, ticketing and information facilities, parking, layovers, open spaces, pedestrian connections, administrative offices, retail and commercial business uses. Design Workshops offer a unique approach to involving and engaging clients, stakeholders and community interests in planning and development for specific needs. The process will involve involve a series of focused, interactive workshop sessions held during the course of a week, preferably within the project area or walking distance from the project site. Close proximity to the project area allows for easy access for participants and designers to review issues on site and at the planning table. The sessions are intended to be small gatherings of 8 to 15 people to engage in a productive forum. During the sessions IBI Group listens, documents the exchange and develops an understanding of a common ground of issues. The Design Workshop facilitates direct interaction between the IBI Group design team and the various stakeholder groups flushing out issues, ideas, and solutions that get tested by the whole group throughout the course of the Workshop. The IBI Team will collect all available data from each of the transportation providers as well as base mapping of the surrounding site photograph and necessary graphics to illustrate project issues as a beginning point for the discussions. IBI Group will prepare illustrative feature boards, site maps, and existing conditions imagery as tools to use and participants to reference. A brief powerpoint presentation will be prepared that will: • Introduce the project and present goals and objectives. • Describe the workshop process and purpose. • Share examples of precedent transit centers, review design challenges and attributes. • Initiate the dialogue and listen to the stakeholders share their perspective. Deliverables: • Agendas, meeting notes, action items for the workshops • Workshop graphics, mapping, photography, sketches • Technical memorandum summarizing the results of the workshop
