CITY OF SANT A ANA <br />SUFK OC will provide Civic Engagement and Leadership Development trainin g and activities for all yo uth <br />enrolled in ITS (up to 20) as part of thi s grant. The training and activities are a prut of the ITS cwTi culum provided to <br />youth aged 16-24. The training includes workshops and oppottunities for leadership development through civic <br />engagement and vo lunt eerism. As prut of the mentoring prog:rrun, we help youth to identify social connections in <br />their co1mnu.nity through civic engagement, volunteering, spott or school. Volunteering is highly encouraged in order <br />to lerun social responsibility and to make social connections in their community. We also provide oppo1tunities for <br />youth exiting the SUFK OC mentoring progrrun, to vo lunteer with our organization through outreach, tutoring, <br />mentoring, fundraising, and administration. Many of our "graduates" re turn to SUFK OC as volunteers, staff, and <br />advisors. <br />SUFK OC offers workshops and training in Leadership, Employment, Education, Vocational Training and <br />Entrepreneurship. The workshops and courses ru·e designed for youth that are evaluating future employment <br />oppottunities and preparing for full time employment. The courses ru·e offered as prut of the Employment Readiness <br />and/or Emplo yment Retention stages of the ITS ment01ing progrrun. <br />11 . Suppo1tive Services <br />SUFK OC prov ides suppo11i ve services to all youth enro ll ed in the SUFK OC mentoring program s. <br />Supp011ive ser v ices include basic needs (food, clothing, hygiene), housing suppo11 , healthcare, <br />behav ioral/mental health, counseling, legal aid, credit repair, hous ing n avigation, employment navigation, <br />and transpo11ation (bus pass, gas cards, rideshare). <br />We maintain close relationships with housing provide rs across Orange County. This includes <br />re lati onships with loca l yo uth s helters (e.g. Way makers , Rob yne 's Nest, Mercy Ho use, and Casa Yo uth <br />Shelter) to prov ide temporary housing for mentored youth. The SUFK OC Hous ing Navigators maintain <br />r e lationships with housing prov iders across Orange County which we draw upon for trans itional and <br />permanent housing for youth. Youth in s uppo11ed housing receive weekly deliveries of food, hygiene, and <br />household produc ts . Youth may receive tape red rental s uppot1, as needed, once they complete the JTS <br />program, are stably employed, and petmanently housed. <br />We m aintain agreements with many agencies across OC that provide supp011i ve serv ices to m entored youth. <br />The SUFK OC Case Manager refers pa11icipants to services s uch as medi ca l ("Serve the People" in S anta <br />Ana and "Fam ili es Together" in Tustin and Garden Grove), menta l health (OMIC, AP AIT), employment <br />(OneStop Centers, O C APICA), identification services (Orange County C lerk/Recorder), transp011ation (OC <br />Transit Authority), education (County Office of Education and multiple school di stricts, community colleges <br />and universities (EOPS office, GED, and vocational programs), Fed eral, State, loc al, and private assistan ce <br />including Medi-Cal and Supplemental N utrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Women, Infants and C hi ldren <br />(WIC), State Unemployment Insurance, Social Secmity Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental <br />Security Inco m e (SSI), and the General Relief Program (GR). <br />Community coordination and coll aboration are key to prov idin g wrap -a round suppo11i ve services t o <br />vulnerable youth . We coll aborate w ith many county -wide agencies to identify at-risk youth as early as <br />possible, including OC2 l l , the OC TAY (Transitio n Aged Youth) Collaborative, and the Orange County <br />Human Trafficking Tas k Force. We coordinate services throu gh the Orange County Continuum of Care <br />(CoC) and its Coordinated Entry System (CES) and refer clients to CES's participating agen cies including <br />emergency shelters, trans itional liv ing, rapid re-housing, and/or p e1mane n t suppo11ive hous ing r eso urces. <br />The CoC and the Coordinated Entry System (CES) invo lve m any organi zations ser ving vulnerable youth <br />w ith the goal of improv ing the effic iency and quality of our unified effo11s across Orange Co unty.
