DEFINITIONS <br />b-standUp ~ Por kids <br />ORANGE C OUNTY <br />• Work Experience (WEX): A stiuctured and supervised learning ex peri ence that <br />provides yo uth with oppo1tunities to gain practical expe1ience in a real work setting. It <br />may be paid or unpaid, depending on the structure and agreement between the youth and <br />the employer. <br />• Paid Work Experience: A work experience where the youth pa1ticipant is compensated <br />for their time at the minimum wage or hi gher, depending on local labor law s and <br />organizational policies. <br />• Unpaid Work Experience: A work experience where the youth pa1ticipant is not <br />compensated but gains experience, skills, and job readiness. <br />• Duration of Work Experience: The total time a youth pmticipates in the work <br />experience, typi cally ranging from 3 weeks to 6 months, depending on the program's <br />goals, funding, and the nature of the work. <br />ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS <br />To be eligible for work experience under WIOA, youth pmticipants must meet the following <br />criteria : <br />• Be enrolled in the WIOA Youth Program (Out-of-School or In-School Youth). <br />• Be between the ages of 16 and 24. <br />• Have an individual service strategy (ISS) that includ es work experience as a component <br />of their career development. <br />• Have demonstrated the need for work experience as part of their program goals, including <br />care er exploration, job readiness, or ski ll development. <br />EXHIBIT 3 <br />  <br />  <br />City Council 10 – 355 7/1/2025
