FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO
GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383
Resolution No. 2024-XX

i. As conditioned, the project complies with Standard No. 1. The
project does not propose to change the property’s historic and
current use as a residence. Changes involving character-
defining features would be limited mostly to the removal and
replacement of historic windows and doors on the secondary
and rear elevations, where public visibility is limited.

Proposed alterations that would remove materials from the
residence and garage center on the replacement of existing
windows and doors, including some historic and all non -
original features. Character-defining historic features
proposed for removal include the like-for-like replacement of
two wood horizontal windows and one metal casement
window on the north-façade, the 15-light wood-sash window
assemblies facing the rear patio from the west façade, and the
wood French doors facing the patio from the south façade.
Although these alterations would remove historic materials
and features, this work would be confined to façades facing
the enclosed side and back yards, which constitute private
space with limited or no visibility from the right-of-way. Other
proposed changes to the windows and doors would remove
non-historic features on both the residence and garage,
specifically vinyl windows, the non-historic front and
secondary doors, and the existing metal roll-up garage door.

The proposed window and door alterations would also involve
the removal and/or addition of some existing stucco siding at
several locations and two to three linear feet of board -and-
batten siding from the secondary south elevation of the
residence; however, although the siding is character-defining
of the property, it is not a distinctive material and will be
replaced or added in-kind to conform with the current
appearance of both buildings’ exteriors.

Additional work involving the removal or alteration of historic
features and materials is limited to the leveling of the brick
floor of the front porch. This work, which is proposed to
enhance the utility of what is now a bi-level floor, will be
completed with the addition of new brickwork of an
appearance similar to the existing flooring material to bring the
lower portion of the floor to the same level as the upper. The
work will not require the removal of or substantial changes to
any adjacent exterior wall surface or porch roof support.

Overall, the project satisfies Standard No. 1 in that it would
maintain the property’s historical use as a residence,
