FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO
GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383
Resolution No. 2024-XX

substantially limit the removal of historic materials and
character-defining features to secondary facades that are
minimally visible from the public right-of-way or are entirely
outside public view, and replace any lost wall cladding and
porch flooring materials in-kind.

ii. As conditioned, the project generally complies with Standard
No. 2. As discussed above in the analysis for Standard No. 1,
the removal or significant alteration of historic materials and
character-defining features includes the removal of one steel
casement window and two sliding wood-sash windows on the
south elevation, two paired 15-light wood window assemblies
on the west elevation (facing the rear patio), one glazed wood
set of French doors on the south elevation (also facing the
patio), and stucco at select sites to accommodate alterations
to both historic and non-historic doors and windows. In order
to maintain the historic character of the house, replacements
at these locations, consisting of both windows and doors,
would be of metal fabrication modeled on the house’s existing
multi-light steel casement windows. New window trim would
be would also be modeled on and painted to match the
existing trim.

In some cases, non-original vinyl windows and other
incompatible features would be changed out with
replacements more closely matching the historical
appearance of the house; such work includes the restoration
of the primary-façade focal with a tripartite steel casement
window nearly identical to the original at that location, in
addition to the replacement of a north-elevation sliding glass
door and a south-elevation vinyl window with multi-light sliding
metal windows matching the trim, muntin dimensions, and
color of metal windows elsewhere on the house.

All new siding and brick work will include the replacement of
addition of materials of similar to the appearance of
corresponding existing materials and, aside from the leveling
of the porch floor, will occur on secondary façades, where the
alterations will be at most minimally visible from the right-of-
way.

Although the project would result in the loss of character-
defining windows and doors on the secondary façades, the
project would generally satisfy Standard No. 2, by restoring
the historic appearance of the primary façade with the
installation of a historically appropriate metal casement
