Commissioner Busfamante departed of 4:26 p.m. during the discussion. <br />Further discussion included short-term considerations for the present and <br />long-term considerations for the future, a budget that is equitable for ali <br />businesses and proportionate to their assessment paid, the need for <br />maintenance and security, our overall goal for the Downtown, and specific <br />plans versus master plans. Chairperson Sarmiento requested that staff <br />have a Finance representative explain how fees ate currently assessed. <br />Matt Lamb will prepare three budget scenarios for the Commission to <br />consider at its regular meeting of October 5, 2004. These scenarios will <br />include 1) no assessment fee {current), 2) a 50 percent assessment fee, <br />and 3} a 100 percent assessment fee. <br />The final step in this year's community engagement process will be a <br />second community forum on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, 7:30-9:30 a.m., <br />at the Santa Ana Performing Arts Center. Letters of invitation will be <br />sent, in both English and Spanish, to all BID members and participants. <br />The focus of the upcoming forum will be to prioritize the activities to fund <br />for the 2005 calendar year. Input will be used to prepare swell-informed <br />budget that will equitably benefit the Downtown businesses. <br />MISCELLANEOUS ADMINISTRATION <br />4.
