CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />APPENDIX I <br />PROJECT NO.: XX-XXXX <br />PROJECT TITLE <br />Sewers and Other Gravity Flow Applications," Standard Specifications and these Special <br />Provisions and the construction plans. <br />Where indicated on the plans, sanitary sewer pipe shall be Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) sewer <br />pipe with compression joints conforming to Subsection 207-8 of the Standard <br />Specifications. <br />Underground conduit construction shall conform to all applicable Subsections of Section <br />306 of the Standard Specifications, the Standard Plans and these Special Provisions. <br />PVC sewer pipe shall be manufactured by JM Eagle or gpproved equivalent. <br />PVC gravity sewer pipe and fittings shall conform to ASTM D3034 for diameters from 4" <br />- 15", and ASTM F679 for 18" - 24", with integral bell gasket joints. Rubber gaskets shall <br />be factory installed and conform to ASTM F477. <br />Pipe shall be made of PVC plastic having a cell classification of 12454B or 12364B as <br />defined in ASTM D1784 and shall have SDR of 26 and minimum pipe stiffiiess of 115 psi <br />according to ASTM Test D2412. <br />Pipe shall be installed in compliance with ASTM D2321. Bedding material shall provide <br />adequate and uniform support under the pipe. <br />Pipe shall not be stored in direct sunlight. Pipe stored outdoors shall be protected from the <br />natural elements by covering it with opaque material such as canvas. The covering shall <br />be placed in such a way as to allow adequate air circulation between the cover and the pipe. <br />Discolored pipe will not be allowed. <br />Individual pipe sections shall not be stacked in piles higher than five feet. The pipe shall <br />not be stored next to heat sources or engine exhausts. All gaskets should be protected from <br />heat, oil and grease. <br />Field cutting of PVC pipe shall be square cut and bevel the end with a beveling tool. <br />Remove all burrs and raised edges prior to assembly. <br />Potholing shall be considered as part of the excavation necessary for the work. The <br />Engineer shall be given the opportunity to inspect the existing improvement when it is <br />exposed. <br />Any adjustments in line or grade which will be necessary to accomplish the intent of the <br />plans shall be made. In the event obstructions are encountered during the progress of the <br />work which will require alterations to the plans, the Engineer shall have the authority to <br />change the plans and order the necessary deviation from the line or grade. Contractor shall <br />not make any deviation from the specified line or grade without approval by the Engineer. <br />Pipe sections shall not be deflected at any joint, either vertically or horizontally, beyond <br />the limits specified by the manufacturer. <br />
