SANTA ANA VISION ZERO PLAN UPDATE | 5 <br />Firm teAm & exPerience | KtUA Project experienceD <br />cLient City of Santa Ana Zed Kekula, Senior Civil Engineer 714-647-5606 ZKekula@santa-ana .org <br />StAtUS Completed 2021 <br />ServiceS Landscape Architecture Complete Streets Planning <br />ProJect Fee $31,000 <br />KtUA KeY PerSonneL Joe Punsalan Jacob Leon Stephen Nunez <br />The Santa Ana Standard Avenue Protected Bikeway <br />project implemented a Class 2 buffered bike lane along <br />Standard Avenue from Warner Avenue to Edinger Ave- <br />nue, a Class 4 protected bike lane from Edinger Avenue <br />to Chestnut Avenue, and a Class 3 bicycle boulevard from <br />Chestnut Avenue to 3rd Street . This design also included a <br />fully protected intersection at Standard Avenue and McFad- <br />den Avenue as well as partial protection/curb extensions at <br />other various intersections . Signalized bicycle crossings in- <br />cluded separate bicycle phasing and signal heads . Pedes- <br />trian improvements along the corridor include high-visibility <br />City of Santa Ana Standard Avenue Protected Bikeway crosswalks and bulb outs at all crossings and rectangular <br />rapid flashing beacons at unsignalized crossings . <br />KTUA prepared conceptual renderings to effectively con- <br />vey the proposed project features at community work- <br />shops and assisted in facilitating those meetings . KTUA <br />also assisted with landscape design, placemaking and a <br />landscape construction document package with speci- <br />fications . Due to the experience is planning, designing, <br />and implementing bikeways, as well as the Central Santa <br />Ana Complete Streets Plan, KTUA provided bikeway and <br />pedestrian design review for the various submittals . <br />cLient City of El Monte Sarah Zadok 626-580-2217 szadok@elmonteca .gov <br />ServiceS Visual Simulations Collision Analysis <br />StAtUS Completed 2023 <br />ProJect Fee $232,784 <br />KtUA KeY PerSonneL Joe Punsalan Krista Campolong Alex Samarin <br />City of El Monte Vision Zero Action Plan <br />KTUA worked with City staff and stakeholders to develop <br />a Vision Zero Action Plan (VZAP) that defines, develops, <br />and recommends implementation activities supporting a <br />Vision Zero approach to multimodal transportation systems <br />planning, policy and programs . This project analyzed colli- <br />sion data, roadway configuration to mitigate transportation <br />system fatalities and severe injuries which are preventable <br />by providing accessibility for all . The planning process <br />established community goals for the City of El Monte’s <br />transportation system, including context sensitive design(s) <br />and traffic speeds appropriate for enhancing safety and <br />mobility for all system users . <br />The VZAP accomplishes the following: <br />• Considers Vision Zero best practices, including policies, <br />programs, and strategies, that are successful elsewhere <br />and applicable to the City of El Monte <br />• Develops a High-Injury Network (HIN) to identify corri- <br />dors for bicycle and pedestrian improvements <br />• Coordinates with existing road safety efforts underway <br />in the City and Vision Zero initiatives elsewhere <br />• Engages community stakeholders in setting the priori- <br />ties for investment in Vision Zero strategies <br />• Identifies partnership opportunities with public, private <br />and non-profit organizations to advance Vision Zero <br />strategies in the City <br />• Refines existing and propose new metrics to track plan <br />progress towards Vision Zero
