will not be permitted to work this schedule if in the discretion of the Department <br /> Head and City Manager, the 9/80 work schedule may reduce service to the public. <br /> 1. Work Schedule <br /> The 9/80 work schedule shall be defined as working eighty(80)hours over nine <br /> (9) days in a two (2) week period. An employee shall work eight (8) days for <br /> nine (9) hours per day and one (1) day for eight (8) hours, excluding a one (1) <br /> hour unpaid meal break during each work shift,totaling forty(40)working hours <br /> in each FLSA work week. <br /> 2. Work Week <br /> The FLSA work week shall be defined as the work week starting exactly four <br /> (4)hours after the start time of the employee's regularly scheduled shift on their <br /> alternating regular day off and ending exactly one hundred and sixty-eight(168) <br /> hours later. <br /> No employee working the 9/80 work schedule will be able to flex their <br /> alternating regular day off start time nor the time they take their meal break, <br /> which will occur after an employee has worked at least four (4) hours on their <br /> alternating regular day off. <br /> Modifications of the FLSA work week are not permitted unless authorized by <br /> the Executive Director of Human Resources or their designee. <br /> 3. Schedule Changes <br /> Employees cannot change schedules without prior approval of their supervisor <br /> and.Department Head.The purpose of this authorization is to review the impact <br /> on staffing and overtime. Employees may change schedules at the beginning of <br /> any work week with supervisor and Department Head approval. <br /> 4. Leave Benefits <br /> When an employee is off on a scheduled workday under the 9/80 work <br /> schedule, then nine (9) hours of eligible leave per workday shall be charged <br /> against the employee's leave balance or eight (8) hours shall be charged if the <br /> day off is their alternating regular eight (8) hour work day. All leaves shall <br /> continue under the current accrual, eligibility, request and approval <br /> requirements. <br /> D. It is the intent of the parties that no additional paid time off shall be gained or lost <br /> as a result of the implementation of an alternate work schedule. <br /> 2025 MOU City of Santa Ana&SEIU Full-Time Employees Unit Page 10 <br />
