SCOPE OF SERVICES
It is assumed that the following is required
• Irrigation Notes and Legend (1)
• Irrigation Plans (4)
• Irrigation Details (2)
• Planting Notes and Legend (1)
• Planting Plans (4)
• Planting Details (1)
• Total sheets: 13
7.6 Specifications
Mark Thomas will prepare specifications packages
using the latest APWA Standard Specifications for
Public Works Construction (Greenbook)/Caltrans
Standard Specifications and consistent with the
current City format. We anticipate the City will
provide the boilerplate contract documents to be
included in the specifications package. We will
work with the City on assembling the entire
contract document package. Specifications will be
provided, starting with full special
provisions/technical specifications at the 65%
PS&E submittal. The 95%, 100%, and Final PS&E
submittals will include a response to comments
from subsequent submittals.
7.7 Quantities & Cost Estimates
A cost estimate will be prepared to inform the City
of the upcoming financial obligation and to provide
an engineer's estimate as a basis for the design.
The estimate will show quantities and unit prices
for each work item along with appropriate
mobilization and contingency costs. For structural
items, Caltrans BEES format will be used. We will
research the latest unit prices available, Caltrans
database information and Caltrans latest
Construction Cost Manual, and consult with the
City on specific prices and use our own information
from other recent bids as available to ensure the
unit prices are current. We will also coordinate and
conduct value engineering studylanalysis for any
proposed improvements during the design. The
estimate provided will be updated based on City
comments and market data at the 35%, 65%, 95%,
100%, and Final PS&E submittals that include a
response to comments from subsequent
submittals.
All estimate submittals will be both in excel and
PDF formats with each submittal.
CITY OF SANTA ANA
SANTA ANA BOULEVARD GRADE SEPARATION
HART( THOHAS
7.8 Construction Schedule
Mark Thomas will provide a detailed CPM method
schedule of construction activities in Microsoft
Project format based upon our assumed staging
plans and design efforts. The initial Construction
Schedule will be supplied at the 65% PS&E
submittal with updates with the 95%, 100%, and
Final PS&E submittals that include a response to
comments from subsequent submittals.
Task Deliverables:
• Concept Submittal to SCRRA
• Planting Concept
• 30%/60%/90%/100%/Final Plan and Cost
Estimate Submittals aligned with SCRRA
• 60%/90%/100% Specifications &
Construction Schedule
Task 8 Railroad & Structural Design
8.1 Track Plans
8.2 SCRRA Rail Bridge
8.2.1 Type Selection
Biggs Cardosa will develop a structure selection
analysis in accordance with §11.6.1 of the SCRRA
Design Criteria Manual for the railroad bridge.
Along with discussing span arrangement,
substructure configuration, etc., constructability will
be a primary focus of the Bridge Type Selection
Report. Attachments will include a Bridge General
Plan and a rough order of magnitude construction
cost estimate.
Assumptions:
This scope does not anticipate the
preparation of multiple superstructure and
substructure alternatives. Rolled steel
beams are assumed to be the most
preferable alternative for SCRRA and the
City, and Type I or Type II CIDH or CISS
foundations will be preferrable over a pile
cap.
Up to three (3) construction staging
alternatives will be considered for the
Bridge Type Selection Report. Alternatives
are anticipated to include: 1) Piles located
outside of tracks to minimize railroad work
windows, 2) piles located within tracks that
would reduce structure cost but would
