<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> a. The work assumed encompasses the majority of the typical duties <br /> and responsibilities of the vacated position. <br /> <br /> b. To qualify for temporary upgrade assignment pay, employees must <br /> serve in an acting capacity in the higher level classification as <br /> follows: <br /> <br /> • ten (10) consecutive working days of eight (8) hours each; <br /> or <br /> • eight (8) consecutive working days of ten (10) hours each, <br /> for employees working on an alternative work schedule; or <br /> • any combination of consecutive working days consisting of <br /> nine (9) hours each and one (1) working day consisting of <br /> eight (8) hours, for a total of 80 hours of work for <br /> employees working the "9/80"work schedule; or <br /> • two (2) consecutive work weeks, consisting of three (3) <br /> 11.5 hour days and one (1) 5.5 hour day for a total of 80 <br /> hours of work for employees working on an alternative <br /> work schedule. <br /> <br /> C. In computing qualifying service rendered, only full days of actual <br /> duty shall be included, and partial days shall not be combined to <br /> make full days unless they are normally granted holiday hours. <br /> Normally granted holidays will be included in computing actual <br /> duty days. <br /> <br /> d. Employees must requalify for an upgrade (Temporary Assignment) <br /> if the employee has not worked in this specific upgrade assignment <br /> for a period of 18 consecutive months. The employee shall only be <br /> considered to work in a higher classification if such work is duly <br /> and specifically authorized by the employee's Department Head. <br /> <br /> 2. Whenever practicable, the appointing authority shall rotate Temporary <br /> Upgrade Assignments among all qualified employees. <br /> <br /> 3. Employees in the following categories shall not be assigned to Temporary <br /> Upgrade work unless specifically authorized by the City Manager: <br /> <br /> a. Non-permanent employees (Probationary, Part-time, Seasonal, <br /> etc.). <br /> <br /> b. Employees performing work above their regular classification in a <br /> training capacity. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 23 <br /> 25F-25 <br />
