Employees must requalify for a Temporary Upgrade <br /> Assignment if the employee has not worked in this <br /> specific upgrade assignment for a period of eighteen (18) <br /> consecutive months or longer. The employee shall only <br /> be considered to work in a higher classification if such <br /> work is duly and specifically authorized by the <br /> employee's Department Head. <br /> <br /> 3. Whenever practicable, the appointing authority shall rotate <br /> Temporary Upgrade Assignments among all qualified <br /> employees. <br /> <br /> C. Payment. <br /> <br /> 1. On the next consecutive working day following the qualification <br /> period for temporary upgrade that an employee has been <br /> serving in a Temporary Upgrade Assignment, and for each <br /> additional consecutive working day the employee so serves, he <br /> or she shall receive the beginning rate (Step "AA") assigned to <br /> the higher classification or the lowest rate in that range which is <br /> at least ten (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5%) higher <br /> <br /> than the current base salary rate he or she normally receives, <br /> (inclusive of lead pay and exclusive of any other assignment or <br /> special pay additive or additives) whichever is greater, except <br /> when placement at "E" step shall not be sufficient to provide <br /> the ten (10) salary rate range increase. <br /> <br /> During the term of this Agreement, if an employee has worked <br /> in a higher classification for the required minimum number of <br /> consecutive work days to qualify for temporary upgrade <br /> assignment pay, the employee shall thereafter receive upgrade <br /> pay for each day the employee is assigned to work in the higher <br /> classification during the term of this Agreement. <br /> <br /> 2. Assignment or special pay additives, such as bilingual pay, shift <br /> differential, special skill pay, etc., paid to an employee prior to <br /> becoming eligible for Temporary Upgrade Assignment Pay, shall <br /> not be considered in computing the amount of higher pay to <br /> which he or she is entitled in Subparagraph 6.5C above. If the <br /> special circumstances upon which said additive is based are <br /> also applicable to the Temporary Upgrade Assignment and the <br /> employee remains eligible for such pay while in the temporary <br /> upgrade position, this amount shall be added to the new salary <br /> rate range. <br /> <br /> CONFIDENTIAL ASSOCIATION OF SANTA ANA (CASA) MOU: 2010 - 2012 Page 22 <br /> 25E-24 <br />
