ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT NO. 97-02 (Marvin Ellenbecker) <br />Filed by the City of Santa Ana to amend the Water Conservation Ordinance to <br />exempt required landscape areas of less than 2,500 square feet from the <br />ordinance requirements. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Recommend that the City Council Approve Zoning Ordinance Amendment No. 97-02. <br />Mr. Marvin Ellenbecker, Landscape Associate, presented staff report and staff <br />recommendation. <br />Notion recommending approval by City Council. <br />' MOTION: Mondo SECOND: Doughty <br />AYES: Nalle, Oliver, Doughty, Mondo, Hanna, and MacDowell <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Pedroza <br />H. CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 95-37 (Thomas Childress) <br />Filed by the City of Santa Ana to begin revocation proceedings due to <br />noncompliance with the conditions of approval for Donut Depot located at 3119 <br />South Main Street. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Direct staff to begin revocation proceedings for Conditional Use Permit No. <br />95-37. <br />Mr. Thomas Childress, Associate Planner, presented staff report and indicated <br />staff was requesting revocation proceedings due to noncompliance of the <br />conditions of approval. <br />Notion to direct staff to begin revocation proceedings. <br />MOTION: Doughty SECOND: Oliver <br />AYES: Nalle, Oliver, Doughty, Mondo, Hanna, and MacDowell <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Pedroza <br />' I. Discussion of Discovery Museum Entitlements. (Marta Crane) <br />Mr. Adams informed the Commission that the Discovery Science Center project <br />would come before the Commission for review on March 24, 1997 for formal <br />action. <br />Ma. Marta Crane, Assistant Planner II, provided a model of the proposed <br />Discovery Science Center and discussed with the Commission the two phases of <br />the project, architecture design, and land use issues. <br />Mr. Adams informed the Commission that staff would be meeting with the <br />neighborhood members to discuss possible issues or concerns. He also noted <br />that the sign program would not come before the Commission on March 24, 1997 <br />but would be reviewed by the Commission at a later date. <br />Commissioner MacDowell asked staff if the images on the proposed cube would <br />be informational and draw patrons off of the freeway. <br />Mr. Adams responded that the proposed cube would not have images due to <br />financial restraints. However, the proposals for the cube did involve accent <br />lighting although it had not been finalized. <br />J. Comments from the Executive Director. Comments from the Planning Commission. <br />Commissioner Doughty asked for an update of 2828 North Bristol. <br />Mr. Adams responded that he had not received any new information regarding <br />the site. <br />Ms. Uptegraff stated that she would drive by to view the site on the <br />following day to observe any code violations. <br />M.
