HISTORIC EXTERIOR MODIFICATION APPLICATION NO. 2001-01 <br />Filed by Memphis Restaurant and Santora LLC to allow exterior modifications to the <br />Santora Building located at 201-203 North Broadway and 213 West Second Street. <br />PUBLISHED IN THE REGISTER: April 23, 2001 <br />PUBLICLY NOTICED: April 20, 2001 <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Adopt a resolution approving Historic Exterior Modification Application No. 2001-01 <br />Sergio Klotz, Associate Planner, presented the staff report and recommendation, and <br />described the proposed exterior modifications. <br />Madame Chair Kings opened the public hearing at 6:31 p.m. <br />Ben Grabiel spoke in opposition of proposed exterior modifications specifically on the <br />creation of the new doorway on Second Street and relocation of Broadway storefront <br />entrance. <br />Dan Bradley, Applicant, spoke in support of the proposed exterior modifications adding <br />that it would be costly and difficult to redesign the floor plan as they went through various <br />space plans to get the most sufficient layout to minimize changes to the exterior. <br />Madame Chair Kings closed the public hearing at 6:34 p.m. <br />Commissioner Bustamante noted that the door on Broadway will have a minimal impact <br />as it will bring back four feet towards the sidewalk and will not be noticeable. <br />Madame Chair Kings commented that the Santora Building is a landmark and agrees <br />that attempting to restore the building in complete is something worth trying to obtain; <br />but noted that the building historically had a restaurant with that kind of activity and is <br />pleased to have this type of spirit back in the building; added she is in agreement with <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION MINUTES 7 MAY 3, 2001 <br />
