The Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board/Youth Council 1 2012
Youth Business Network Project (YBNP)
or mentorship programs for those who successfully complete the program and would like to
mentor others who come through the programs. Case Manager will follow-up quarterly via visits,
phone calls and/or emails on each participant who completes the program.
12 month follow-up and After -Care
Acceptance into Post
Secondary Schooling
12 month Internship Participates in the
with BN Providers Peer -to -Peer
completes Mentorship Program
Continues employment
with BN Provider
during Internship
As indicated in the above flow chart each participant who successfully completes the program
will do one of the following, get accepted into a Post Secondary School OR continue
employment with the BN provider where they performed their internship. Case Managers will
make quarterly contacts via visits, phone calls and/or emails. Everyone who completes will be
given a chance to choose to participate in a creative team who will be a part of creating the peer-
to-peer mentoring program.
E. Goals/Objectives' and Performance Levels
Placement in Employment or Education
The YBNP model places all eligible applicants in employment opportunities on the onset of the
program with BN Providers as interns. This is the work -base learning experience that they
receive. As part of the program each participant is required to complete 2.5hrs a week in a
structured work learning experience in a classroom setting. The challenge for the YBNP will not
be placing these participants in employment or education at 65% because 100% of the program
is hands on training in real time. The challenge will be to have MORE than 65% retention level
once each of our youth participants are placed with a BN Provider.
Attainment of Degree or Certificate
Depending on the number of youth participants who enter the program that are in need of 1 -
GED or 2- ESL classes they will have access to enrolling and completing these classes. Also
those who identify a goal to pursue secondary education opportunities will be linked to those
opportunities upon enrollment into the program. The YBNP is committed to ensuring that ALL
7 1 111 a g e Exhibit A
