The Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board/Youth Council 2012 <br />Youth Business Network Project (YBNP) <br />II. ABOUT YOUR OGRANIZAITON <br />A. Qualifications <br />Currently Napsac has about 4 employees that manage the store front as well as all accounting <br />functions. They also have about 5 volunteers who assist with day to day operations as well as <br />community events that Napsac does for free for the youth in the area. Some of these events have <br />been car washes, dance contests, mentoring. Although Napsac is not known formally as a Youth <br />program in the City of Santa Ana, the store front has served in the past 7yrs as a place for many <br />youth in the community as a refuge, a safe haven, a place where they could go and `hang-out', <br />complete homework and most of all stay out of trouble. Owner Eddie C. Napper has volunteered <br />in the City of Santa Ana in various programs and was awarded in the Porter Volunteer Award of <br />the Year for his invaluable service particularly in coordinating activities and entertainment for <br />the Black History Parade. As a long time member of the Santa Ana community, Eddie is well <br />aware of the challenges that face youth in today's society and because of that has chosen to give <br />back through providing a formalize training ground through WIA for the youth and has been able <br />to network with other local business owners to do the same. Napsac average annual operating <br />budget runs anywhere between $85K to $98K and the main source of revenue are merchandise <br />from companies such as New Era, Adidas, Mitchel & Ness, Dallas Cowboys, Carl Banks and G - <br />III. <br />B. Experience <br />Napsac Sports Apparel Urban Gear is located in the heart of Santa of Ana surrounded by the <br />main offices of the Unified School District, Social Services Department. It also sits within a <br />business/ entrepreneurial complex that is vibrant with a variety of products and services, <br />capturing all ages and ethnic backgrounds. Napsac first opened its doors in 2005 providing <br />individuals and families with sports gear that could be customized to their needs. Napsac also has <br />worked with youth/adult teams for uniforms for sports leagues and tournaments within the <br />community i.e. Santa Ana Pop Warner, `Our Lady' a private school in Santa Ana for girls, BGA <br />— Basketball Academy, Santa Ana Boxing Team — Boxing Academy. Napsac also hosted <br />community past events that included coordinating entertainment for adults and youth for the <br />annual Black History Parade. Currently they host a `Shuffling Sesh Contest' a free 7week contest <br />for the ages of 4yrs to 20yrs old. The contest is held every Saturday and creates a positive <br />competitive environment that allows youth to express themselves through music and dance. <br />Since opening in 2005, Napsac has expanded their brand and name nationwide through products, <br />community involvement and Church relations. <br />On a personal note, owner of Napsac Sports Apparel Urban Gear, Eddie C. Napper has worked <br />in youth programs specifically Olive Crest in level 12 group homes and level 14 facilities. In his <br />8yrs of service he was trained and eventually became a trainer weekly in -services training, <br />copying skills, intervention skills, de-escalation techniques, observation, compromising, <br />9 1 11 a g e Exhibit A <br />
