ARTICLE X <br />10.0 VACATION <br />10.1 Pose. It is the policy of the City to grant employees vacation leave in order to provide <br />them with a break in their regular work schedule and this purpose will be used as a guide in <br />the administration of the provisions of this Article. <br />10.2 Regular Vacation Period. <br />A. Regular vacation with pay is granted to each full -time permanent or probationary <br />employee, at the rate of 120 hours for each completed year of service, accrued at the <br />rate of ten (10) working hours for each completed month of service. <br />B. Vacation time off may be taken in increments as small as one (1) hour, with <br />fractional usage rounded upward to the next higher multiple of one (1). <br />C. Computing Regular Vacation. <br />In computing regular vacation, each municipal holiday that occurs during the <br />vacation, and that falls on a day which the employee would have worked had he <br />or she not been on vacation, shall be deducted from the computation so that one <br />(1) additional day of regular vacation shall be allowed to the employee. Should <br />an employee be confined to a hospital for sickness or injury while on authorized <br />vacation, each full day of such confinement, when confirmed by a physician's <br />statement and approval of the Police Chief, may be deducted from the <br />computation of vacation expended and charged against the employee's <br />accumulated sick leave. <br />No employee may carry over from one (1) calendar year to the next, more than <br />the equivalent of 240 hours of regular vacation from the previous two (2) years, <br />and vacation not taken beyond that amount is forfeited. A regular vacation period <br />is defined as the maximum amount of vacation earned in a calendar year as <br />provided in Subsection A above. <br />3. Employees may or may not be allowed or required to accumulate or split <br />vacations. The time at which an employee shall take his or her vacation shall be <br />determined by seniority within rank, with due regard for the needs of the service. <br />22 <br />
