ARTICLE IX <br />9.0 VACATION <br />9.1 Purpose. It is the policy of the City to grant employees vacation leave in order to <br />provide them with a break in their regular work schedule and this purpose will be <br />used as a guide in the administration of the provisions of this Article. <br />9.2 Regular Vacation Period. <br />A. Regular vacation with pay is granted to each full -time permanent or <br />probationary employee, at the rate of fifteen (15) working days for each <br />completed year of service, accrued at the rate of ten (10) working hours <br />for each completed month of service. <br />B. An employee who has completed less than one year's service during the <br />calendar year shall receive a proportionate fraction in accordance with the <br />amount of service to his or her credit during the year; provided, however, <br />no employee shall be entitled to, or receive payment for, any vacation until <br />he or she has completed six (6) months of continuous service. <br />C. On or after the first (1s) day of the month following completion of six (6) <br />months of continuous full -time service, an employee may be allowed to <br />take all or a proportionate fraction of his or her earned vacation, subject to <br />scheduling approval of the employee's supervisor. <br />D. Vacation time off may be taken in increments as small as one -half (1/2) <br />hour, with fractional usage rounded upward to the next higher multiple of <br />one -half (1/2). <br />E. Upon completion of two (2) years of continuous service, each employee <br />must take at least five (5) consecutive working days of vacation each year <br />thereafter. <br />F. Computation of Regular Vacation. <br />1. In computing regular vacation, each municipal holiday that occurs <br />during the vacation, and that falls on a day which the employee <br />would have worked had he or she not been on vacation, shall be <br />deducted from the computation so that one (1) additional day of <br />regular vacation shall be allowed to the employee unless <br />departmental practice provides some other manner of <br />23 <br />
