VII. Preparation for Postsecondary Education and Training <br />A. Note: WIOA only accepts certificates that are accredited by a State recognized <br />educational entity or are recognized by employers. <br />B. Special consideration for organizations that offer preparation for postsecondary <br />education and training in high- demand industries. <br />C. Identify and /or develop a pathway for youth that can lead them from high school <br />to career or college. Please elaborate on the specific pathway(s). <br />D. Describe in detail how the program will prepare youth for postsecondary <br />education and training. <br />E. How will your organization expose youth to the various post- secondary <br />educational institutions (colleges, universities, vocational training schools, <br />apprenticeships, etc.). <br />F. Describe the certificates that youth will be able to earn while in your program or <br />within 1 year after exit. <br />G. Include data and research that supports the industries or pathways listed above. <br />H. Include Letters of Intent from training agencies as <br />Tutoring <br />A. Note: Youth Service Providers are required to use the Test for Adult Basic <br />Education (TABE) on ALL youth to assess their literacy and numeracy skills. Youth <br />who score 8.9 and below are considered "basic skills deficient" whom should <br />receive tutoring or remedial training to improve their literacy and numeracy skills. <br />B. Describe in detail the tutoring resources that will be provided to youth. <br />III. Mentoring <br />A. Specify how your organization will provide mentoring to youth. <br />B. Specify what types of support your organization will offer youth who are facing <br />challenging obstacles such as: family dysfunctions, mental health issues, low self - <br />esteem, probation, gang issues, parenting issues, etc. <br />C. Will your organization offer mental health services or referrals to mental health <br />agencies, describe. <br />D. Describe how your organization will provide or refer youth to comprehensive <br />guidance and counseling for drug and alcohol, etc. <br />IV. Workshops <br />A. Provide information about the following workshops and how or when the <br />workshops will be provided to youth in the program: <br />1. Financial Literacy/ Budget Management <br />2. Entrepreneur Skills Training <br />Labor Market Information <br />4. Family Planning <br />5. Worker's Rights /Labor Laws <br />6. Analytical Skills at the Workplace <br />7.
