Music OC. "El Sistema" based music programs are designed to engage and empower students to
excel and experience being an asset to their community. Aspects of the program include
ensemble practice and coaching, ear training, music theory and history, Eurhythmics workshops,
monthly and public performances. OCCTAC and Chamber Music OC have an ongoing
partnership where a professional musician from Chamber Music OC provides monthly free
community music workshops at OCCTAC to promote educational interactions through live
music and make the benefits of music more accessible and approachable for the entire
community. Chamber Music OC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the
artistic relevance of classical music throughout Southern California.
How will the proposed project be presented or sharers with the public? Will it be free and
accessible to the public? The film series will be promoted through local media channels (online
and print) and the networks of the project partners: OCCTAC, Chamber Music OC, and Frida
Cinema. Tickets will be offered for $5 for adults; admission for children under 12 will be free
with paid adult admission. One month of free music classes at OCCTAC will be offered to new
students who sign up at any of the screenings or with flyers distributed at the events.
How will this project enrich the Santa Ana arts and culture community? OCCTAC intends to
put on this film series ah means of educating current OCCTAC students and their families
about the power of orchestral music and training to change lives, and to expose Santa Ana
residents to classical music in a way that will make it more accessible and relatable to them by
relating it through Latino culture.
Additional City of Santa Ana resources required for the project: There are no city permits,
licenses or use of public s?,,-nce required for this project. Project activities will be held at the non-
profit Frida Cinema and at OCCTAC's facility, both located within Santa Ana.
OCCTAC Narrative & Supplemental Questions
