Section 5 <br />This section describes existing land uses on and within the vicinity of the project <br />area, land use compatibility conflicts and potential open space and recreation <br />impacts at Centennial Park and at the Heritage Museum. <br />5.9.1 Affected Environment <br />Existing Onsite Land Uses <br />Centennial Park <br />Centennial Park is an 87 acre community park located in the southwestern area <br />of the City of Santa Ana. The park site is bounded by the Santa Ana River to the <br />west, Fairview Road and the Greenville Banning Flood Control, Channel to the <br />east, Edinger Avenue to the north and Godinez High School to the south. <br />Centennial Park features a combination of active and passive recreational uses <br />that are centered on a large man-made lake. A loop road extends along the <br />perimeter of the park site providing access to various locations in the park <br />including several parking areas. Additionally, included within the park boundaries <br />is the Santa Ana College Centennial Education Center and Child Development <br />Center which provides adult education classes, pre-school age classes, and day <br />care facilities. <br />Heritage Museum <br />The Heritage Museum is a 12-acre cultural and natural history learning center <br />located in the southwestern area of the City of Santa Ana. The Heritage Museum <br />site is bounded by Godinez High School to the north and west, Mitchell Child <br />Development Center to the east, and industrial buildings to the south. The <br />Heritage Museum contains a historic plaza featuring several buildings from the <br />1890-s, extensive flora gardens, citrus groves, agriculture demonstration garden <br />area and natural wetland areas. <br />5.9.2 Regulatory Framework <br />City of Santa Ana General Plan and Zoning Code <br />The City of Santa Ana General Plan (Land Use Element designates Centennial <br />Park Open Space and the Heritage Museum Institutional.
