CITY O SANTA ANA <br />PXV NO,. 10-090 <br />WATER WELL, PUMP AND MOTOR REPAIR SERVICES <br />dellverylpiok up for the repair and refurbishment of electric motors and perform any recondition or rewiring <br />asneces>sacy to return the equipment fully operational, All electric motor repair shall be done in art <br />EASAAccredited Mernberservice shop, no exceptions, <br />a. All work shall be in accordance with the Electrical Apparatus Service Association's (EASA) <br />Recommended practice, AR100.2015 latest edition and the National Electrical Manufactyrers <br />Association (NE1IA) standards for service and repair of electrical apparatus. <br />b. Work shall be in conformance with standards set by, but not limited. to, the following organizations: <br />1, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) <br />a. Underwriters Laboratories — Certified motors shall be recertified after repair. <br />b. Contractor's shop or his sub-cortractor's shop shall be UL-certified to rebuild explosion -proof <br />electric motors for use in hazardous environments. . <br />2. American National Standards Institute (ANSI) <br />3. American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) <br />4, National Electrical Code (NEC) <br />5. National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) <br />6. National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) <br />Recondition/Repair of Electric Motors <br />Reconditwning/repa'ir of electric motors shall inc€ude the testing, disassembling, Inspection,. cl'eaning,. <br />dipping, baking of windings, replacement of bearings,' assembly,.'Oeing and paintrng and at r5himum <br />Include the fallowing; <br />a. Pre<DlsassemblyTest <br />1, Using a 1000V mag-ohm meter, conduct verification of insulation integrity... Record the insulation <br />resistance, of the motor as brought in from the City: Acceptable criteria is 5 meg-ohms or higher. <br />2. Verify that. heaters are operational and that other attached features, such as thermocouples,, have <br />continuity,. <br />3, Single-phase test to check for open rotors. (After disassembly, rotors will be inspected for evidence <br />of damaged, cracked or open circuit bars or end rings. ff there is evidence of faults, the rotor will be <br />growl -tested.) The detection of any defect during testing shall be reported promptly to the Engineer <br />4. Documentation covered under this section shall Include the condition of mechanical fits (i.e, shaft <br />run out), cracked, broken or missing parts, test run at full voltage, current readings, meg reading <br />and surge comparison test as received. The Engineer shall be notified if acceptable criteria are not <br />met. <br />b. Motor Disassembly <br />1. Completely disassemble motor and steam clean all mechanical parts using a mild detergent <br />compatible with winding insulation; thoroughly rinse; bake dry. <br />2. Disassembly documentation shall include the cause of failure and/or conditions contributing to <br />failure. <br />c. Motor Inspection <br />
