Regional Plan <br />methods and techniques for incorporating workforce readiness into student curriculum. <br />• Over 8,600 students have participated in the program, with 2,500 participating In work -based learning programs. <br />12,500 community college students have enrolled in OC Pathway industry sectors, earning 600 certificates and 85 <br />degrees. 500 educators have enrolled in OC Pathways professional development sessions, and the University of <br />California Curriculum Integration (UCCI) developed 6 courses, 4 of which meet University of California and California <br />State University admission requirements. <br />Dc c: is ri:ti on: The nascent success of the career pathways programs provides a solid foundation for the development of an <br />overall infrastructure to enable future development of regional sector career pathway approaches to OC workforce needs. <br />i e 2, l o n a 1 C c>a 1110b le ct iv e: Improving access and quality of programs, embracing a sector strategy that concentrates on <br />developing career pathways programs for priority sectors to help people get and sustain good jobs with good pay. <br />Strategy: Organizing regional sector career pathway development around a network of engaged business /industry, <br />education, labor, and stakeholders who are Invested in regional workforce development. <br />State Plan Alignment: Strategic regional alignment of education, training, and workforce systems to foster demand - <br />driven skills attainment and opportunities for upward mobility for all Californians. <br />As described and referenced throughout this <br />regional plan, the OC Region has established <br />the Orange County Economic and Workforce <br />Development Network ( "the OC Network ") as <br />the vehicle for bringing businesses, labor, <br />education, economic development and others <br />to identify and address the regional workforce <br />challenges, especially as they relate to the key <br />industry clusters of the County. Through <br />quarterly meetings, intensive workgroups, and <br />planning sessions, the OC Network serves as a <br />hub for dialog, information sharing, planning, <br />and development of resource strategies. <br />Complementing the State goal to create and <br />implement regional sector pathways, the OC <br />Network's key partners and stakeholders have <br />come together with recommendations to further <br />develop career pathway programs to meet <br />regional industry needs: <br />Career Pathway Platform <br />• Identifying key competitive and emerging industries <br />• Aligning, coordinating, and integrating Orange County's resources to support the development of Industry- specific <br />partnerships in those targeted high -value priority industries <br />• Working to minimize /eliminate policyladministrative barriers to the alignment of public programs and funding streams <br />• Developing common systems to track participant success <br />• Identifying and accessing additional federal, state, private and philanthropic resources to sustain the network, invest in <br />specific programs, and support sector initiatives <br />• Integrating programs and braiding funding streams along career pathways, and providing supportive services for <br />underprepared students and workers <br />• Supporting a multiple entrylexit point system in career pathways programs <br />Page 1 / <br />19D -32 <br />
