(k) Probationary Period- New guards assigned to the City contract will be <br />placed on a six month probationary period during which time their skills will <br />be assessed periodically by both Contractor and City staff. To ensure <br />satisfactory completion of the probationary period, City staff, at his /her <br />discretion, may require a written exam and /or oral review. <br />4. 24 -Hour Communications Capability <br />Contractor shall maintain a 24 -hour communication center, Contractor shall be <br />responsible for the proper operation and security of its pages, radios, cellular phones and <br />chargers. <br />5. Uniforms and Equipment <br />Contractor shall provide uniforms to employees who are assigned to work on the contract <br />at no additional expense to those employees or the City. Uniforms shall include winter <br />jackets and rain gear. Uniforms shall bear a patch identifying the Contractor. Uniforms <br />are subject to City approval. Pictures of Contractor uniforms are to accompany <br />Contractors RFP response. <br />G. Supervision <br />Supervision of assigned personnel shall be provided daily, 7 days a week, as assigned. <br />The Supervisor shall be available to meet with City staff when requested. Supervisors <br />shall conduct on -site inspections of assigned personnel at least twice per week. <br />Supervisors shall have prior security experience, know and understand the operational <br />aspect.of the.security.business, bean appropriate role model, and have an ability to teach, <br />guide and direct effectively. Supervisors shall employ measurable performance criteria <br />in their evaluation of employees. It is desirable to have supervisors emerge from within <br />the ranks of those assigned to the contract. This achieves continuity and assures the <br />experienced security guards are at the forefront of protecting the City's employees, <br />clients and assets. <br />City Hall, Main Library and the SARTC each require an on -site supervisor to manage the <br />guards assigned to these locations. <br />7. Training <br />Contractor shall provide the following training at no additional expense to the City. <br />(a) Training of newly assigned guards: Contractor will be expected to provide <br />up to eight (8) hours of training to newly assigned guards at the City facilities. <br />At SARTC, three (3) Rill days of on -site training is required. <br />(b) Training of substitute guards: <br />Substitute guards shall be able to fill in and complete all duties of the <br />regularly assigned guard, when needed. <br />City of Santa Ana Unarmed Security Guard Services RFP <br />25K-22 Page 18 <br />
