several awards for their leadership in the arts. <br />AL hires college students and graduates that are masters in visual and performing arts, <br />and most have a background working with children and/or are striving to become <br />teachers. AL instructors are extensively trained in AL's comprehensive curriculum, <br />classroom structure, and management skills, and their classes are monitored to ensure <br />student growth. <br />The contract with Active Learning will include instructor time of 10 one-hour classes per <br />day, 5 days per week for 5 weeks at a rate of $30 per hour for a total of $7,500. Active <br />Learning covers the cost of instruction materials and supplies such as PA systems and <br />music as well as its own liability insurance and other administrative expenses. <br />Materials and Supplies <br />Materials and supplies include art supplies such as paints and brushes, craft paper, <br />beads and other embellishments, colored pencils and pens, etc. Also included are <br />musical theater supplies and materials including stage sets, decorations, and costumes. <br />Additionally, display materials such as foam boards, table easels, table cloths, <br />decorations, etc. are needed for the art gallery during the end -of -summer extravaganza, <br />which will also include snacks and beverages served to the guests. Materials and <br />supplies will depend on the specific art projects and theater production that are selected <br />based on participant interest. The cost is calculated at approximately $500 per week for <br />a total of $2500. <br />Additional Expenses Not Covered by Grant Funds <br />Grant funds do not cover administrative overhead such as facility costs, liability <br />insurance, program oversight provided by the CEO, and the Chief Operations Officer <br />who processes purchases, contracts, and payments and tracks attendance and <br />expenditures. Grant funds also do not cover the cost of Program Leaders who will be <br />responsible for supervising program participants during non -class hours and managing <br />the free lunch program. The administrative costs are provided in-kind and the cost for <br />the Program Leaders is covered by program fees, which are expected to be <br />approximately $50 to $75 per week (Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm) <br />for 5 weeks. Fees will be charged on a sliding scale and families who are unable to pay <br />will be offered scholarships in exchange for volunteer service. <br />Supplemental Question 1: Please describe any additional City of Santa Ana <br />resources required for your project (permits, public space, licenses etc.)?: <br />No additional City of Santa Ana resources are required for the proposed project. <br />Supplemental Question 2: Is this a new or existing program/project?: <br />This is a program based on a pilot program that was conducted in the summer of 2016 <br />that focuses on visual and performing arts activities with the specific purpose of <br />conducting an end -of -summer extravaganza to showcase students' art work, skills <br />
