--3-- <br /> <br /> (g) "Public use" means a use for which real property may <br /> be acqnired by eminent domain. <br /> (h) "Mortgage" means such classes of liens as are eom. <br /> inertly given to secure advances on, or the unpaid purchase ' <br /> price of, real property, together with the credit instruments, <br /> if any, secured thereby <br /> Sgc. 2. Section 726l of thc Government Code is amendetl <br /> to read: <br /> 7261. (a) A public entity shall provide reloeation <br /> x'isory assistance to lin3' persoll, bllsinoss, or farm operation <br /> displaced because of the acquisition of real property by that <br /> publie entity for public use. <br /> (b) In giving such assistance, the public entity may estab- <br />lish local relocation advisory assistance offices to assist in ob- <br />taining replacement labilities for persons, businesses, and. farm <br />operations which find that it is necessary to relocate because of <br /> the acquisition of real property by the public entity. (c) Such advisory assistance shall include: <br /> (1) Determining the need, if any, of displaced persons for <br />relocation assistance. <br /> (2) Providing current and continuing information on the <br />availability, prices, and rentals of comparable decent, safe, <br />and sanitary housing for displaced persons, and of comparable <br />commercial properties and locations for displaced businesses. <br /> (3) Assuring that, withiu a reasonable period of time, prior <br />to displacement, to thc extent that it can be reasonably adcom- <br />plished, there will be available in areas not ~zenerally less <br />desirahle in regard to public utilities and public and eom- <br />mcrciaI faeillties, and at rents or prices within the financial <br />means o~ the families and individuals displaced, decent, safe, <br />and sanitary dwellings, equal in nmnber to the number of. and <br />available to, sm~h (lisplaeed persons who require such dwellings <br />and reasonably accessible to their places of employment, ex- <br />cept that, in the case of a federally funded project, a waiver · <br />may be obtained from the ~cderal govermnent. <br /> (4) Assisting a displaced persou displaced h'om his business <br />or farm operation in obtaining and becoming established in a <br />suitable replacement location. <br /> (5) SuPplying information concerning federal and state <br />housing programs, disaster loan progralnS, and other federal <br />or state programs offering assistance to displaced persons. <br /> (~) Providin~ other advisory services to displaced persons <br />in order to minimize hardships to such persons. <br /> (d) The public entity shaI1 coordinate its relocation assist- <br />ante program with the project work ncccssltatin7 the dis- <br />placement and with other phmned or proposed activities <br />other public entities in the conmmnity or uearb7 areas which <br /> <br /> <br />
