all of <br />to and <br />and <br /> <br />RESOLUTION N0.4088 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA OPPOSING AN IN- <br />CREASE IN THE TAX RATE OF THE ORANGE COUNTY FLOOD <br />CONTROL DISTRICT AND APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF 25,000 <br />ACRE FEET OF METROPOLITAN AQUEDUCT WATER FROM FUNDS NOW <br />ON HAND BY SAID DISTRICT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Orange County Flood Control District includes <br /> <br />the territory in Orange County and presently is authorized <br /> <br />does collect taxes in said County for flood control purposes; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has for many years, paid taxes <br />into said District and did during the Fiscal Year 1950-1951, pay <br />Fifty-five Thousand and Nine Dollars and Ninety-seven Cents, <br />($55,009.97) in taxes to said District and has received as a direct <br />benefit from said District since its organization, only the Delhi <br />Drainage Ditch which was outside of the City limits of the City of <br />Santa Aha; and <br /> <br /> V~EREAS, there is now in the process of creation, the Orange <br />County Metropolitan Water District to include all of the territory <br />in the Orange County Water Basin excepting only that territory which <br />had previously become a part of Metropolitan Water District; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa ~ma has become a part of the Metro- <br />politan Water District and as such paid a tax of thirty-one cents <br />(.31¢) per One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation to <br />said District during the Fiscal Year of 1950-1951 and has used a <br />substantial portion of its water from the Metropolitan Water Dis- <br />trict since 1944, all in the interest of conserving and replenishing <br />the underground water in the Orange County Basin and has paid for <br />said water so used approximately twice the cost of pumping a like <br />amount of water from said Orange County Water Basin; and <br /> <br /> WttEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Orange County has recom- <br />mended and is now seeking an amendment to the Orange County Flood <br />Control District Act to increase the authorized tax rate by Ten Cents <br /> <br /> <br />
