2. Said service connection shall be constructed by <br /> METROPOLITAN in accordance wl~h plans and specifications approved <br /> by the General Manager and Chief ~nglneer of METROPOLITAN and by <br /> the Water Superintendent of SANTA ANA. Ail equipment and materials <br /> required for constructing said service connection shall be purchased <br /> by METROPOLITAN in its customary manner, or METRO?OLITANmay utilize' <br /> therefor suitable equipment and materials on hand. <br /> <br /> 3. Ail costs of procuring equipment and materials for and <br />constructing said service connection shall be borne by SA2~A ANA and <br />shall be paid, or reimbursed to METROPOLITAN, by Santa Ana promptly <br />upon rendition by METROPOLITAN to SANTA ARA of a statement thereof. <br />Said costs shall include the costs of all equipment and materials so <br />procured or utilized by ~TROPOLITAN therefor, the costs of all ap- <br />plicable labor and taxes, and all other dire~t costs, all said costs <br />to be determined in accordance with the methods of cost accounting <br />customarily employed by METROPOLITA~, plus the cost of general admin- <br />istrative services and overhead expense of METROPOLITAN herein stated <br />and agreed to be an amount equal to fifteen per oentum of the aggre- <br />gate of said direct costs. Ail costs so to be borne by SANTA ANA <br />shall be audited and certified, in accordance with the customary <br />practice of METROPOLITAN. <br /> <br /> ~. Said service connection shall include the facilities <br />for diversion of water from METROPOLITAN'S Orange County feeder and <br />for delivery of such water into the distribution system of SANTA ANA; <br />said facilities shall consist of a shutoff valve and branch pipe con- <br />neeted to METROPOLITAN'S Orange County feeder pipe line, a meter <br />equipped with indicating, re~ording, and totalizing instruments, and <br />a check valte or other device for preventing backflow from the dis- <br />tribution system of Santa Aha into METROPOLITAN'S works, together <br />with appropriate piping, fittings, and other appurtenances, and, if <br />deemed necessary or desirable by METROPOLITAN'S General Manager and <br />Chief Engineer, an additional shutoff valve to enable the meter to <br />be isolated for maintenance or repair; said meter and valves shall <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br /> <br />
